What's new
Monghoul 1.8.0
User & Role Management
- Manage users and roles — A new Pro "Manage Users" tab, opened from a connection's right-click menu, lists, creates, edits, and deletes MongoDB database users, with roles assigned inline and a one-click secure password generator.
- Custom role builder — Browse built-in and custom roles, and author custom roles with a resource-and-actions privilege editor (grouped, searchable actions) plus role inheritance.
- Manage Atlas users and roles — On MongoDB Atlas, connect a Project API key and manage database users and custom roles right in the same tab, including temporary (auto-expiring) users. Atlas blocks user management over the database connection, so Monghoul uses the Atlas Administration API; the project is auto-detected from your cluster and keys are stored encrypted on your device.
- Permission-aware — The screen adapts to what the connected user can do: full management, view-only for scoped accounts, a one-click "Connect Atlas API keys" prompt on MongoDB Atlas, or a warning when the deployment has authentication disabled.
- Safe changes — Role and privilege edits apply as incremental grant/revoke instead of overwriting, and deleting the last user administrator is guarded so you can't lock yourself out.
