70+ MCP tools, with a permission model in front of them.
Monghoul runs an MCP server, so an AI assistant can query your databases through the same connection profiles you already use. The interesting design is not the tools. It is what an assistant is allowed to reach and what it has to ask for first.
What it does
- Connect any MCP client. The server is loopback-only and authenticated with a token
- Access scope is set per connection and per database, so an assistant sees what you decided it sees. Anything outside it is hidden from discovery, not just refused
- Per-tool permission overrides, so read tools can run freely while write tools ask
- Write operations can require approval, and the approval names the operation and the target
- An activity record of every call an assistant made, kept locally
